Janice has over 25 years of dance experience, having danced semi-professionally in Boston, Jerusalem, and Miami. Initially a jazz dancer, she began her ballet training in college with Zabelle Margosian, while continuing her jazz dance training with Adrienne Hawkins at Impulse Dance. She has over 15 years of experience with Alexander Technique (working with Meg Jolley) and Pilates (studying with Sally Leabhart). In 2014, Janice became a certified Pilates mat instructor and trained as a ballet fitness instructor with prima ballerina Maria Teresa del Real. Since moving to Lexington, VA in July 2015, Janice has taught Ballet Fitness, Ballet Boxing, West Coast Swing, Ballet, Jazz, and Pilates at Halestone Dance Studio, VMI, W&L, and Center of Gravity. She has also taught “baby & me” style classes focusing on rhythm and movement (utilizing a mix of singing, music-making, and dance) for children ages 0-4 and their caregivers.

Janice’s non-dancing alter-ego obtained a PhD in applied social psychology. She spent over 10 years conducting research on topics ranging from terrorism and political violence to traumatic brain injury and aggression to research ethics and scientific misconduct. She has taught college courses including Psychology of Terrorism, Psychology of Leadership, and Introduction to Psychology.
